Canada leading up in the eliminatory rounds for the Polo World Championship, Mexico 2008
Careyes, Mexico – April 29. With 5 converted goals, Brandon Phillips has gained ground for the Canadian team towards a well-off victory on its Guatemalan counterpart 12 scored goals to 5, during the second fixture of the opening journey for the Caribbean, Northern and Central America preliminaries, where, along with the United States, will seek the sole pass for the next World Polo Championship, which will be organized by our country for April 2008.
The maple leaf team was highly consistent from the beginning despite having a major disadvantage to start with because a handy cap of a goal and a half was granted in favor of the Central Americans. From the beginning they made their control clear, mainly with the pair formed by Phillips and the naturalized Marcelo Rodríguez Abbiatti, who accounted for most of the goals in favor.
During the course of the event, almost at the time of the closing of the third Chuncker, chopine Alfredo Aycinena spectacularly fell down and even lost the knowledge for a few seconds, which caused medical services to enter the field and to translate him to hospital, from where he left a few hours later, after having been satisfactorily assessed. He only suffered from minor bruises.
After the substitution of Anycema, Antonio, under the same last name, entered the field, but the Guatemalan gang had no better luck. Taking advantage of the situation somehow, the Canadians ended up scoring goals to become, until the first date, the team with best defenders, placing itself in the first place of the qualifying rounds.
