The Aspen Valley Polo Club is wrapping up their 10 tournament 2016 Summer season with this weekend’s Carbondale Classic. Over the course of the summer the Aspen Valley Polo Club hosted a club-high ten tournaments, taking advantage of fields at Sopris Mountain Ranch, Rose Spur, High Mesa and the Aspen Valley Polo Club.
Lessons and clinics were offered as well as competition and practices in both the indoor and outdoor arenas.
Joining the Aspen Valley Polo Club regulars for the Carbondale Classic will be Roaring Fork’s Michael Payne, Denver Polo Club’s Erica Gandomcar-Sachs and Hawaii’s Ray Noh.
Three 13-goal teams will be competing in the Carbondale Classic with Tonkawa (Jeff Hildebrand, Tincho Merlos, Jimmy Seward and Michael Payne), Flexjet (Melissa Ganzi, Julio Novillo Astrada, Juan Bollini and Erica Gandomcar-Sachs) and NOH Foods of Hawaii (Ray Noh, Carlitos Gracida, Lucas Lalor and Stewart Armstrong).
All three teams will compete in a round-robin competition on Friday afternoon at 3pm (MST) at Jeff Hildebrand’s High Mesa Field. A final round-robin scheduled to be played at the Aspen Valley Polo Club on Sunday at 11am (MST) will determine the winner.
