The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder
Three of the four games today were just a** beatings, but it came close because it was a cool day and people are nice on cool days I guess. The one I do not know about is Mansour vs Valiente, who did win, but I had heard a big number then it endened close they say. The rest do not tell me it was close.
Across the way on field 3, it was Adolfo Cambiaso (aka AC) and Lucchese vs ERG. It finished within a goal or two, but really it was not… it did look good though. In the 1 pm Piocho spanked Zacara and it was much worse than it looked. There were 3, 8-goalers out there. It looked like there was not one as Piocho just killed us from the opening bell. Three early goals in the sixth occurred and then Memo and Carlos scored 4 in a row.
In the final match of the day Jeff Blake could have went home at 1/2 time and still would havewon as they scored the first 7 goals and seldom had a reason to worry the rest of the day, except how to get home and ready for dinner. Grants Farm dominated this one until the end as the other games were all pretty similar. The losing teams all seem to catch up at the end, so maybe it was the cool weather keeping everyone nice and it will make Friday this way.
It sets up like this:
Bracket 1 Bracket 2
Valiente 1-1 Fri. ERG Zacara 1-1 Fri. Audi
ERG 1-1 Fri Val Grants Farm 1-1 Fri Piocho
Mansour 0-2 Fri Luc Audi 0-2 Fri Zac
Lucchese 2-0 Fri Man Piocho 2-0 Fri GF
Lucchese is in the finals and that’s done on the other side. Piocho is + 4, but play Grants Farm next, who are minus 4 in a 3-way tie meaning Zacara would beat Audi and GF would beat Piocho it would come down to net goals. If Piocho wins it is done. So the story goes on.
San Diego is still dark and if not headed North to the Oyster Cup at Cerro Pampa, come on by for the America Cup finals weekend at Santa Barbara.
