Audi knocks off Tonkawa.

In the first match of the subsidiary of the Ylvisaker Cup, the George Haas Cup, Audi (Marc Ganzi, Lucas Lalor, Nic Roldan and Fred Mannix) scored a 10-6 win over Tonkawa (Jeff Hildebrand, Gonzalito Pieres, Rodrigo Andrade and Tomas Alberdi) to earn a berth in the semifinals of the George Haas Cup at the International Polo Club Palm Beach.

Tonkawa’s Rodrigo Andrade scored first, but Audi was up to the challenge.  Nic Roldan added two goals to the mix for a first chukker 2-1 lead.

Two more second chukker goals from Audi had Tonkawa in a spin.  Gonzalito Pieres scored once for Tankawa, and the period ended with Tonkawa trailing by two goals, 4-2.

Third chukker action had Nic Roldan and Fred Mannix scoring for Audi while Tonkawa picked up off-setting goals from Pieres and Andrade.  The pace quickened, but goals were hard to come by.

The first half ended with Audi on cruise control in Ylvisaker Cup competition.

Fourth chukker goals from Nic Roldan and Gonzalito Pieres offset one another with two chukkers left to play.

Audi scored the only goal of the fifth chukker (Marc Ganzi)as the Tonkawa lineup was unable to score.  After five periods the Audi lead grew to three goals, 8-5.

A goal from Mannix got everyone’s attention and the teams battled on.   When all the dust had cleared, Audi remained on top, 10-6 and rode off with the win and a spot in the finals of the George Haas Cup.
