MT. BRILLIANT, LONGFIELD FARM START BARRANTES WITH WINS
Mt. Brilliant’s A team joined their B team as first-round winners in The annual Hector and Susan Barrantes Memorial Cup at Saratoga Polo on Thursday with a 12-10 victory over SaraBoca/Tackeria.
Both squads benefited from a small but steady stream of scoring throughout the contest, but Mt. Brilliant A asserted itself in the second chukker, receiving 2 goals apiece from Stevie Orthwein and Guillermo Usandizaga to give their team a 3 goal buffer that they enjoyed for the majority of the match. Stevie Orthwein and Usandizaga finished with 6 and 5 goals respectively to carry Mt. Brilliant A. Robert Orthwein also registered a marker for the winners.
SaraBoca/Tackeria’s Guilli Aguero kept it close, putting at least one ball between the posts in each chukker to lead all scorers with an impressive 8 tallies on the day. Lance Vetter and Ricky Bostwick each contributed 1 score to SaraBoca/Tackeria’s effort.
The Hector and Susan Barrantes Memorial Cup continues at Saratoga Polo with a double header on Friday, August 11th as Wildwood/Woodlawn takes on Bloomfield/Gene’s Cleaning at 10:30am and Longfield Farm squares off with Mt.
