LONGFIELD, MT. BRILLIANT B CLAIM WINS IN BARRANTES
The final double header of the Hector and Susan Barrantes Memorial Cup ended with two matches with identical scores, as Longfield and Mt. Brilliant B defeated Gene’s Cleaning/Bloomfield and Wildwood/Woodlawn repectively. Both matches had a final score of 8-6.
In the early match, it was the steady scoring of Whystle Uys combined with the playmaking of Bo Goodman to power Mt. Brilliant B past Wildwood/Woodlawn, which received its offense from Cathy Brown, Julian Hipwood and Gaston Lisioli.
The evening match, also the Woodford Reserve Cup, was a tight match with both teams scoring two goals or less each chukker in a true team effort. In the end, The scoring of Augustine and Enrique Zavaleta triumphed over the defense of Gene Gass and the opportunities provided by Will Orthwein (as well as the goals scored by Jube Baez and Cuko Escapite)

Aug 12 06: POLO DO WINS IN BARRANTES PREMEIRE
Matias Bullrich and his pair of clutch goals overcame the tenacious defense of Hulton Goodman as Polo Do claimed a victory in their first appearance in the Hector and Susan Barrantes Memorial Cup at Saratoga Polo on Saturday. The team in white triumphed over Mt. Brilliant A, who had already registered a win in this tournament, with a final score of 11-8.
In a hard fought contest that was defined by a lot of clamoring for the ball on the sideboards and battling back and forth on the open field, the lead changed hands many times and was ultimately determined by both how both teams took advantage of the few opportunities they were afforded.
Neither team led by more than 2 all match except for the sixth and final chukker. It was Bullrich’s goals in the fourth and fifth chukkers that put Polo Do in front for the rest of the match.
The Hector and Susan Barrantes Memorial Cup tournament continues at Saratoga Polo with a double-header on Sunday, August 13th. Wildwood/Woodlawn will take on Mt. Brilliant B at 10:30am while Bloomfield/Gene’s Cleaning and Longfield Farm face off at 5:30pm.
