WILDWOOD/WOODLAWN STRIKES FIRST IN THOROUGHBRED

As the Hector and Susan Barrantes Memorial Cup tournament winds down, The Thoroughbred Stakes got off to an exciting start at Saratoga Polo on Thursday as Wildwood/Woodlawn triumphed over Bloomfield with a final score of 7-5

Wildwood/Woodlawn started the match up a goal on handicap, but Bloomfield scored first with two consecutive goals from Cuko Escapite in the first chukker.

Wildwood/Woodlawn responded when Julian Hipwood and Phillip Staples combined for a 4-0 run that extended into the second half.

Bloomfield got back on the board in the fourth chukker when Tab Orthwein and Cuko Escapite each converted on penalty shots. Hipwood closed out the chukker with another goal to keep Wildwood out front.

Escapite had another score in the fifth, but Staples scored again in the sixth to keep the win out of reach from Bloomfield.
