Calgary, Alberta (August 2, 2007) – With 31.9 seconds on the clock in the sixth chukkar, Fred H. Mannix converted a penalty four to give Millarville an 11 – 10 victory over Tusk Energy and in doing so won the  2007  USPA North American Cup on a perfect evening in the Calgary area.  To say the game was entertaining would be an understatement.  In fact, many said that it was probably the best contest they had seen at the Calgary Polo Club in the last ten years.  Rightfully so as the lead was never more than two (by Tusk in the second) and it changed hands a total of eight times. It was played the way polo was intended to be – hard, fast, no fooling around, and if you didn’t bring horses you didn’t belong.

For Millarville, Mannix had his usual and expected strong effort with five goals (2 fouls) and Daniel Roenisch, in once again the best performance in a supporting role, had three. Julian Mannix, in one of his strongest efforts of the summer, also contributed three  (1 foul).

Joe Henderson, big as usual, led Tusk with five markers (2 fouls), John Rooney, in his best  game of the year had four (3 fouls), and Jeff Hall supplied a single. While not in the scoring column, Todd Martineau was strong  for the Oilers – especially in the second half.

Julian Mannix’s Stilletto was chosen as the best playing pony.

Millarville (16) – Fred H.Mannix 7, Julian Mannix, Daniel Roenisch 5, Brent Mirikitani 4.

Tusk Energy (16) – John Rooney 1, Joe Henderson 4, Jeff Hall 8, Todd Martineau 3.
