WELCOME TO THE NSW POLO ASSOCIATION ‘FRIENDS OF POLO’ NEWSLETTER, AUGUST 2006 __Ellerston Team in the Gold Cup Final, England__Ellerston were narrowly beaten by the Black Bears, Urs Schwarzenbach’s (of NSW Garangula Polo Club) team in a very close final 9-8. Please see a full match report below.__Congratulations also to the Australian Ladies team in Iran, who also got through to the finals but were then defeated by England.__Go north for early Spring action__August and September see tournaments in northern NSW hosted by clubs North Star, Tamarang, Gunnedah, Wellington, Quirindi, Wirragulla and Scone. There is lots more information on these tournaments on the NSW Polo website http://www.australianpolo.com.au/apc/default.asp._NSW Polo Assocation AGM__Clubs and members, please note the date for for this year’s AGM is Thursday 26th October, commencing at 10am. During September Clubs will be asked to provide provisional handicaps for 2007.__World Cup 2007__The next Polo World Cup takes place next year with the finals in Mexico in November. The Play-offs are to be held in New Zealand next February and Australia will send a squad of 10 players. These Championships are held every 3 years, the last being in 2004 with the finals in Chantilly, France won by Brazil. More information on player nominations is on the NSW Polo website.
