Bloomfield lost their early lead to SaraBoca, but bounced back in the final chukker to claim the First Annual Brown Family Cup at Saratoga Polo on Friday with a final score of 9-8.
Will Orthwein and Cuko Escapite scored twice each early to give Bloomfield a 5-2 lead with their handicap at the end of two chukkers, but SaraBoca got goals from Michael Bickford, Ricky Bostwick and Diego Ferreira in the third chukker to end the half with a tie.
Both teams came out of the half eager to get in front, but each squad registered a single goal in the fourth chukker to preserve the tie.
Tab Orthwein scored for Bloomfield in the beginning of the fifth chukker to break the tie, but Lance Vetter responded quickly and Ferreira added another to give SaraBoca their first lead of the contest.
Escapite, who led all scorers with 5 markers, registered the only 2 tallies of the sixth and final chukker to give Bloomfield a 9-8 at the final horn.
