Saratoga Polo Enters Final Weekend; John Walsh of America’s Most Wanted To Compete

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – John Walsh, host of the crime-fighting television show America’s Most Wanted, will play with his Shamrock team during the Autumn Plates competition – the season finale – at the Saratoga Polo Association on Friday, Aug. 31 and Sunday, Sept. 2.

“The season has gone quickly, with some incredible matches and some of the world’s best players here in Saratoga. We invite everyone to see world-class polo here in Saratoga during these final days of play,” said Saratoga Polo’s Managing Partner Jim Rossi.
Mr. Walsh will play with his Shamrock Team during competition for the Red Bull Cup on Friday and the Bonterra Wines Cup on Sunday. Mr. Walsh has been playing polo for several years, with his team based at the Vero Beach Polo and Saddle Club in Florida.
Gates open at 4 p.m. with matches beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Saratoga Polo Association, Bloomfield and Denton Roads.

General admission for matches is $20 per carload or $10 per person and tailgate picnics are welcomed. For those arriving by foot or bicycle, admission is $5 per person. VIP Clubhouse admission is $20 per person and patrons dress as they might for a day at the racetrack.
Admission passes are for sale at the gate beginning at 4 p.m. on the day of the match or may be purchased in advance at www.saratogapolo.com or by calling the polo office at 518-584-8108.

During the games, an unlimited chef’s selection of Tapas and mingle fare is available in the VIP area from 5:30 to 7 p.m. In the VIP tent, post-game dinners will be served from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday and Sunday. Reservations are suggested by calling 518-584-8108.
Saratoga Polo is one of the four oldest polo clubs in the United States, located on 42 acres, with many matches taking place on the original field built by William Collins Whitney in 1898.
