Calgary, Alberta (Aug. 8, 2007) – It is said that the more things change, the more they stay the same. In the case of Fred H. Mannix’s Millarville 12 goal team in Calgary this summer, it appears to be true. With Mannix and younger brother Julian out of the line-up, replacements Mike Kerley and Brent Mirikitani combined with Daniel Roenisch and Julie Roenisch to defeat Palmer Ranch by a count of 12 – 8 in game three of the J.C. Palmer Memorial Tournament.

The feeling was that if ever Millarville was to be vulnerable, this would be the time. The feeling was wrong. With Mirikitani scoring five times (2 fouls) and Kerley adding four, the replacements easily stepped up. In fact, Kerley, playing number one, looked like he had been there all year. If the change bothered Julie Roenisch it certainly was not apparent as she scored twice and son Daniel added one to complete the total.

For the Cowboys, Pedro Orellana (after a nasty fall) scored four times. Scott Palmer, Marcello Rodriquez-Abiatti, and Matthew Schwartz  got one each. A handicap award of one was to their benefit at the start. Schwartz  was substituting for Cam Bailey who continues to have trouble with a collar bone fracture.

The win puts Millarville to 2 – 0 while Palmer Ranch drops to 0 – 2.

The scheduled second game of the evening between Broward Yachts and Cymric Glen was postponed due to rain.

Millarville (12) – Mike Kerley 3, Daniel Roenisch 5, Julie Roenisch, Brent Mirikitani 4.

Palmer Ranch (11) – Scott Palmer, Marcello Rodriguez-Abiatti 5, Pedro Orellana 5, Matthew Schwartz 1.
