Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club is pleased to announce a new youth polo tournament, the Avendano Memorial West Coast, sponsored by the Avendaño Family in memory of their late father Carlos M. Avendaño . This tournament will take place at 10am on Saturday, September 5th, Field 1 at SBPRC, preceding the Western Badge and Trophy Cup (PCO Subsidiary) and every year on the same week end as the Pacific Coast Open finals.

Carlos Avendaño Sr. started the “Avendaño Memorial Tournament” in Palm Beach Polo & Country Club back in 1982 to promote polo among kids in the United States. Since then, it has become the oldest and largest kids tournament in North America, with more that 100 kids participating every year on President’s Day Weekend. Many of the High Goal Players participating in the Pacific Coast Open and the rest of the High Goal tournaments in the US and abroad, started playing competitive polo in the Avendaño Memorial.

The Avendano Memorial West Coast is open to children 15 years old and under, Divisions will be Walk/Trot, Intermediate & Advanced.  Please contact Melanja Jones at 970-231-7426 or melanjaj@gmail.com by August 28th to sign up.
