BLOOMFIELD TAKES A WIN AT SARATOGA POLO
Bloomfield overcame an early deficit to best Sugar Maple at Saratoga Polo on Wednesday. The final score was 10-6.
Sugar Maple started the game with 2 goals due to handicap, so Bloomfield knew they had to get to work straight away. That’s what they did, with Will Orthwein opening up the day’s scoring in first chukker and having a goal in every chukker but the fifth to lead all scorers with 5.
Early on, Sugar Maple still retained the lead with first and second chukker goals from Marcelo Castro and Dave Peters, respectively. Will Orthwein and the rest of Bloomfield blew the game open in the middle 2 chukkers, with goals from Tamie Ehinger, Jube Baez, and Tab and Will Orthwein. From there on, Bloomfield had the lead and held on.
In addition to Castro’s and Peters’ early goals to keep Sugar Maple on top in the first half, Castro had another score in the fifth and Rick Baum had a goal and another late charge in the sixth to close the final margin, but ran out of time to mount a full comeback.
The next match at Saratoga Polo will be played on Friday, July 4th at 5:30pm. For more information about Saratoga Polo, call 518-584-8108 or visit saratogapolo.com.
