BMW POLO MASTERS ST-TROPEZ OPEN DE GASSIN 2014

This was a close final that pitted the Team Dark Ice / Hôtel de Paris led by Helen Goddard Watts (hcp 0) against Geoffrey Palmer’s (hcp 0) team Antelope / Julian Jewellers. The two teams kept one goal difference for all 5 chukkers and it was the last 40 seconds that were decisive. The Antelope / Julian Joaillier’s team missed a penalty and left the field open to the opposing team and it was Bautista Ortiz Di Urbina (hcp7) on scoring, gave the victory to the team Dark Ice / Hotel of Paris, 12-11. The Antelope Team / Julian Joaillier, were not unworthy in this thrilling final, the prize for “Best Team Boss” was awarded to Geoffrey Palmer (hcp 0). The semi-finals also kept the audience in suspense until the last two minutes. Despite the Menendez brothers duo, both handicap 7, the Villa Sesta team / BMW led by Ricardo Tattoni (hcp 0) bowed out with 10-12 against the Axus / Hexis team Brian XU (hcp 0) assisted by Dario Musso (hcp7.) From the very start of the tournament,  exciting exchanges between Corinne Schuler ‘s team F Polo (hcp0) against the Werner Meier’s team Technogym (hcp 0)  failed to establish a prognosis. And it was the decisive goal by Mattias Nigoul (hcp 4) who gave F Polo 5th place in this tournament.

8 players competed in this hotly contested cup. While Melanie Amphoux’s team  led 4-1 in the selection match it was the Domaine de la Rouillère team led by Magali Laget who made an incredible comeback and finally won by one goal, 5 to 4 in the final.

In this summer edition, the festivities began with a parade of thirty cars. Julian Joaillier’s Old Car Trophy, has been a coveted competition for many years, in which each team are impeccably coiffured and wearing elegant hats.
To keep up with the “Concours d’Elegance”, Ms. de Fontenay Geneniève chose this stylish event to hold the Miss Provence Prestige 2014 in the presence of Marie Laure Cornu, Miss Prestige France and  3 Miss Vedettes. Romane Venier, was chosen out of the 11 candidates selected. Organized and directed by Lydia Enguehard / event Showmodel, it finished with a fashion show of the Miss Prestige stars dressed by the designer Frederic Duverneuil, the show’s official fashion desoigner. Upon the announcement of the show’s results in the warm applause of the public, the polo club’s dance floor lit up with the arrival of the young DJ from Lyon, William Ruchon. He was quickly joined by BIG ALI the MC for the evening, who put on a frenzied show until the early hours of the morning, dressed in a polo helmet in the St Tropez polo colours.
