BUCKLEIGH FARM PICKS UP WIN IN USPA PRESIDENT’S CUP

Buckleigh Farm overcame Gene’s Cleaning/Tackeria’s early lead to claim their first win in the second match of The Regional United States Polo Association President’s Cup Tournament at Saratoga Polo on Wednesday. The final score was 11-8.

Starting the match up 2 points on handicap, Gene’s Cleaning/Tackeria took that lead through a defensively tough first half and past halftime by building on it with two goals from Juventino Baez in the second chukker and scores from Marcelo Castro in the third and fourth.

Pablo Crespin had the first goal of the match, but it wasn’t until the middle chukkers that he and the rest of Buckleigh Farm really got to work. Luis Galvan had two of his four goals in the third. Crespin scored at least once in each chukker of the second half to lead all scorers with 5 and Angel Jose Rodriguez added another pair of tallies for the day’s victors.

Baez had the last of his 3 scores in the fifth and Matt Coppola added another in the sixth and final chukker, but it wasn’t enough for Gene’s Cleaning/Tackeria to close the gap.

The USPA President’s Cup continues at Saratoga Polo on Friday, July 18th at 5:30pm. For more information about Saratoga Polo, call (518) 584-8108 or visit saratogapolo.com.
