You want to play in front of big crowds and lots of fans … it is here. It is in the nicest place you will ever walk. Costa Careyes is without a doubt the wonderland of places to play Polo, but California has one of the best bar none. If it is winter, just move a little East from the coast and it is all in the Coachella Valley. There are close to 20 fields all in 8 miles, so there are lots of places to be on Sunday. There is no doubt. The crowds head to Empire Polo. There were close to 3000 people there last Sunday. There is little doubt that this is the nicest Polo Club on the Planet from Spectacular rose gardens, elegant statues and an enchanting lake to make you think you are in the tropics. Huge, Olympic-peaked tents surround the main polo field. There is no doubt this is Al Haagen 3. It is fabulous.
El Dorado looks so good after years of decay and is clean and tidy, but lacks the spectacular. They do, however, have a higher goal polo league on Sunday afternoon for those who come to see the Polo for Polo and not just be at Polo. No matter what your draw is the polo or the beauty and experience, just keep on coming and feel free to take the sport up.
You do not have to go far to have a great summer of Polo. Head to the beach in San Diego. There you will have big crowds and a lot of fun. It is the Party Place. Or stop and on the way at Temecula Valley you may never leave. It is a special area with the mountains, a river and countryside all around. You never know you are surrounded by huge cities to the Northwest and the Southeast. If you want a little better Polo and a little less partying head to Santa Barbara where it is the West coast, high-goal circuit and plenty of Polo under 10 goal as well. It happens from the fringe of Carpinteria to the Vineyards of Piocho. There are a lot of places to play Polo here as well. Want to be farther North and see the 49er country … check out the polo there to Cerra Pampa in Petaluma, CA. Polo @ the Park in San Francisco and Menlo as well as Santa Rosa in the real Wine Country.
