California Polo lost two of the nicest People you would ever meet in a month and if you knew them you had to agree Joanie Berry and Harry Collins both passed away recently and it was hard to take for many . They both were people who you never had to think I better not tell someone I really like them because everyone did. So no worry about gossip they were true Ca. Polo people forever . Harry was so nice it was hard to play against him  but he loved Polo and did more for Polo than 90 % of us weather it be in Aspen, San Diego or the Desert he was the shoulder they looked for in bad times and he did not crow or talk about it he just did it and it was done . Harry has a good friend who plays Polo Geoff Palmer and they just have fun and thats why they play they miss a shot they laugh they make a great play they laugh . One time Harry asked me to play a tournament in Indio or San Diego and I said no knowing he would pay better because I told him if you start laughing when we miss I would lose it . He said OK . They are probably what Polo was originally met to be a Gentleman’s  sport . Well that got lost and now more Ladies than Men sponsor teams and most well they expect to win. Joanie her name was Joan Berry but I never heard her called that was Married to Ken Berry untilnow and she was at ever game for the last 40 years and she kept it all together driving Ken back and forth to LA Doctoring him making social schedule and ONE thing for sure she would be in the North Corner box for ever Chukkar of ever game he played Her and Ken probaby helped more new people in SBPolo over the years than anyone PERIOD from India to Australia they brought them in and made it a way for them to survive as well as many struggling Americans . 50 years they were married so you know they COULD GET IT DONE IN LIFE. SO LONG                MRS. JOANNE BERRY !                                                                                                                                                               IN POLO TODAY from coast to coast and abroad here in California like Santa Barbara more like Carpinteria the * goal finals if set Old Man Macho Julio Zavaletta at 58 is in the finals 20 years ago when he left he won the PCO but he came back for a a Holiday and brought his Lovely Wife with him and all was well but now he has to play her in the finals as Her team WHY NOT plays NOXIS INSURANCE in the finals should be fun and I guess should offer Julio a room if he wins !! Across the Pond it is a big one as the British Gold Cup becomes important again since Eng. lost in the semis of World Cup and Wimbledon is headed to the final weekend . We ha d 3 American Patrons reach the final 8 but one will be gone as La Indiana and Valiente play each other  Michael Bickford of La Indiana takes on Bob Journayvaz and Valiente tomorrow in the main game Big Ben who will be here soon is trying to stay there longer as RH takes on undefeated Park Place.
