The Polo Report by Steve Crowder. Cam Clark Cruises Through Wickenden Cup 6-8 Goal Finals. The finals was held this past Sunday, Oct. 15th at the Santa Barbara Polo Club.
Calgary has come to Santa Barbara and controlled this Cup for the 2000 decade thus far. Its been in Canada almost all the time as General Lee Pettigrew kept it for the last 3 or 4 years and then Cam Clark arrived. He just took it right back to Canada after sitting in California for a year.
It was a Fargy day as the speed of Dayelle and brother Kyle Fargy and the speed of Cam Clark let them roll. Guti (Mariano Gutierrez) was a machine in the #4 spot and it was too much for the boys from home Club. It was a good ending to 2006.
New faces are always welcome. It all came about because there had been a 3-way tie, but Augi Dawgy (Agustin Zavaleta) came out of his shell and spanked Gehache to knock them out and by winning it sent Cam Clark to the finals with a win away from the title. They did it in style by their win over Lande/Ladin combo.
Well its time to say so long to Gold Coast Polo for a while, although Rege Ludwig is doing a clinic here soon to get some of the arena players on the grass. It is a very good decision in the building of the future of polo very similar to the San Diego program that has been a smashing success. They go on until it starts raining there or when Graham Bray disappears. See ya. Steve.
