Casa de Campo Resort & Villas – the 7,000-acre luxury destination on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic – announces the appointment of Fernando Arata as the new director of polo and the Equestrian Center Dude Ranch. Arata has deep-rooted connections to the sport and has been in the industry full-time for 10 years.
Fernando Arata, originally from Argentina, comes to Casa de Campo with ample experience in the professional sport of polo. Most recently, Arata worked at Los Pingos del Taita, the world’s largest polo horse embryo center, where he organized the only auction of trained polo horses, called “Remate de Domadores,” or “Tamers’ Auction.” He has covered men’s tournaments and the Argentina Triple Crown for ESPN Polo and belongs to the prestigious polo organization, Las Monjitas. Arata is also an attorney and is married to Martina Monteverde, host of ESPN’s “Polo Show,” and sister to one of polo’s most exciting and talented players, Lucas Monteverde.

Casa de Campo will play host for the DR Polo Challenge from January through April 2016. The challenge will be part of the World Polo Tour and is the first-ever professional high-handicap polo event to take place in the Dominican Republic.
