We can call them upsets or whatever we want, but one thing is for sure it may be anybody or any team who might win in polo. With a minimum of 28 moving parts, each team has a chance to be wrong or very right. Your horse could have a bad day or he has a day to remember. A player maybe hot or not, who knows.

Last week I said well at least two really dumb things and I think I know polo. The first one was in the Officer’s Cup in Indio I said “whoever is in the tournament really does not matter as Casa Blanca will win.” Well guess what? CasaBlaca did not win. To me this team could be 11 goals everyday of the week. Well ParkLane was 12 Goals on Sunday because they beat Casa Blanca in the finals. Bill Garlock and his ParkLane squad just came out and got it done and they are not an 8-goal team going to 10 anytime soon. Parklane are the Champs of the 8-goal 2008.

Today in Palm Beach I said Adolfo Cambiaso and Crab Orchard were in the finals as nobody beats Cambiaso. Well they did and they did it well by 3 and that’s with Crab Orchard tied in the end of the fifth. The man just does not lose when he is in that position, but someone forgot to tell Camillio and the Astrada’s because they did it by 3. Las Monjitas head to the finals where it will be a hard-charging Will Johnston and Skeeterville headed to the big one vs. the Astradas and Camilo’s Los Monjitas.
Talk about experience . . . there is one person under 30 of the 8 and that’s Young Will, who has the speed blood from his late Uncle Skeeter Johnston. Will is maybe 20 years old and in his 1st year of 26-goal polo. It should be fun in the sun at PB Easter Sunda .

Talk about exciting . . .Two Santa Barbara I/I Teams are headed to the Nationals.

The Santa Barbara City College Girls Team and the Westmont Mens team are headed to the big one as they won the West last weekend the hard-riding pretty Ladies of SBCC were unstoppable as they flew thru the Regionals. These Ladies are Cover Girl material.

They are both beautiful and very determined Ladies. They know what they are playing for as Coach John Westley says they “like to Win.” John must know what he is doing as he is returning to the Nationals with his Westmont Team where they were runners-up for the National title last year and they are headed back to get it done and that team is also born to run with.

Collin being one of the young guns of California Polo and from a Polo playing family in the northern part of the state.

We will keep you updated on their progress at the final 4. Good luck to them all and Coach John Westley!

If your down south stop and hunt your Easter Eggs at IPC and if your out west stop by EPC and La Quinta is open Fri. and Sat this week and closed on Sunday so come on out.

See ya.
