Santa Barbara always has something unusual normally the Weather it is awesome and it was today but this year is a very interesting situation . There are a pair of Brothers who keep meeting in big time games . The fun part is the real difference Memo and Carlos Gracida grew up in Polo no difference there so did Dan and Henry both come from Polo families so the same both pairs have played together most of there lives andnever been far apart and still are very well connected with each other and both older Brothers are still the leaders in most ways . Both had fathers who believed in working and that is the way it was the difference is here Ken Walker the Godfather of Santa Barbara Polo is a Banker and must be a very good one and was always known as very organized and it shows with the quality and success of there origination. Memo Senior was probaly the most respected Player pro or otherwise to come out of Mexico leading many world competitions including US Open and British Open among many around the World . Both sets of Brothers followed in there Fathers footsteps Henry and Danny leading there Bank in the modern era and being very good at it and successful Carlos and Memo followed Pop to the Pro ranks of Polo and have been premier players of North America for a couple of decades actually almost 3 both reaching 10 goals and winning virtually ever tournament of any consequence in the World . Both Fathers actually competed against each other back in late 60’s or early 70’s do not know results but in this era with both Pairs near or past there prime in the twilight of there careers in Polo they are 2 of the premier teams here in SB Memos Team La Herradura has been in both finals and beat F & M in the first round of America Cup only to have the Walkers come back and win the Silver Cup finals just a bit less than 2 weeks ago and today well it was not a Walker Day as the Brothers from South of the Border went o the winners table . It is fun to see they both seem to tire late in games but they are taking on people 1/2 there age and both sets have winning records there combined age is well over 200 years so I guess experience counts and a good lesson for all both pairs are very alert to conditioning and preparation. With all that today’s results were:
at 10 AM up at Piocho It was Restoration Hardware and Big Ben stopping defending 3 time champs Muse and Lucchese in what I hear was a thriller the other 2 games were not that exciting . Woods and company smoked Catamount and as said before La Herradura was a way to much for Farmers and Merchants today , so Sunday will be big for a spot in the Semis and there are only 2 left ERG and Reto are in at 2 and 0 Lucchese and Catamount are out most likely so on Sunday it is like this at 10 A.M it is a must for LH to win over ERG to have a shot the 1 PM is just a game as Cat is out and FMB holds all the cards but they could in a melt down let Lucchese back in or at least force a shoot out so Sunday is all 3 PM with a little Drama at 10 AM.
Come on out the Weather is PERFECT and Summer is here 60 days late but it is here .
