INDIO – It’s a new season filled with new players, new horses, a new field or two, and over 87 matches waiting to be contested—all for an extremely affordable price and only at Empire Polo Club.
Empire Polo Club is offering a rare opportunity for new and skilled polo players to experience polo in the Coachella Valley from May through August at rock-bottom monthly rates or by the tournament. Learn to play polo for the first time, or develop horses and skills alongside local pros and players on the best kept fields in the world.
“Polo has been a part of the Coachella Valley sports scene since the beginning. We’re interested in helping polo grow and building new players. Lower fees help to make the sport more accessible, and it provides regular players an excellent alternative to moving their horses away for the summer,” said Vicky Owens, Empire Polo Club’s summer polo manager.
The Empire Polo Club Open tournament series kicks off in May with four weekend tournaments May 8-9, 15-16, 22-23 and 29-30, featuring night-time play under the lights and Saturday night barbecues. On the regular summer tournament schedule are the Pollo Cup, June 19-20; the Chupacabra Cup July 3-4; and the Coyote Cup Aug. 28-29. Tournament levels and the team line-ups will be determined based on the player mix. Entry fees are $150 per player per tournament, excluding horse rental. Stabling is free for weekend players from out of the area.
Empire Polo Club memberships for summer polo are available for $300 per month throughout the summer season. Club chukkers are played daily Wed. through Sunday, early mornings or under the lights in the early evening. Stabling and tack rooms are available for $60 per month and regular members can enter any tournament for an additional $50. Polo lessons for new players, ages 5 and up, are available from Empire Polo Club’s polo school by appointment.
