The European Polo Tour begins this upcoming Friday at Santa Maria Polo Club, a competition that will reinforce the winter season in Sotogrande, where players of many different nationalities will participate from countries like Portugal, England, Scotland, Ireland and Germany.
Some of the players, like in the case of the German patron Andy Gollin or the Scottish player Peter Donald Reid, have moved their horses to Santa Maria Polo Club to play in the competition. The European players rely on Sotogrande´s polo professionals for this competition.
The European Tour takes place during three weekends, during which the arrival of the players is expected at Sotogrande for the occasion.
This tournament is the start of the future development of winter polo, taking advantage of the excellent weather conditions in the area compared to other European countries. The excellent condition of the playing fields at Santa Maria Polo Club, and its high capacity drainage system, allows the games to be played even if there is heavy rain.
