San Diego, CA: The San Diego Polo Club celebrated Father’s Day with an afternoon of action-packed polo, an antique car parade, cigar display and live music by local artist Jakob Martin.
Gates opened at 12:30 and families fled in, fathers for free, to enjoy the summer event. The first match was played at 1pm, Monteverde/Southwind vs. San Fernando/Tri-tech.
Monteverde/Southwind led most of the game but Argentine pros Guido Julian and Gaston VonWernich came back strong to win the game for San Fernando/Tri-tech, scoring 5 goals in the final chukker. After the match was a car parade featuring some of the finest antique cars, followed by the weekly Wilson Creek Winery champagne divot stomp. The 3pm feature match was Star Meadow/La Pasion vs. Hanalei/Rancho Deluxe. Hanalei maintained the lead and won the match 7-4.
Local artist Jakob Martin performed relaxing tunes from 5-7pm where the crowd enjoyed drinks at the bar and cigars from Liberty Tobacco. Saving horses also held a silent auction to prevent horse slaughter. The talk of the day was San Diego Polo Club’s new caterer ChileCo, which prepared delicious farm-fresh salads and paninis for guests. It was a family friendly day with a children’s bounce house, tailgating and summer weather.
