Long Beach victory ends most hope for Palm Desert.

Long Beach’s 13 – 12 win over Palm Desert at Eldorado on Sunday pretty much ended any hope that Dan Horn had of a February championship. Mathematically it might still be possible – win the next two and depend on Grant’s Farm Manor/Windsor Capital losing all three of their remaining games. Certainly a scenerio not likely to happen and consider as well the current difference of 12 net goals. Long Beach, with an effort today that many thought would have come much sooner, trailed by one at the half but led when it counted. Matthew Walker and Diego Cavanagh scored four goals apiece for the winners. The Walkers could continue the role of spoiler on Wednesday with a victory over the leaders.

The second game on Sunday kept Hanalei Bay in the hunt with an 8 – 6 victory over Tri Tech. Ron Bonaguidi stays alive with his fourth win, but probably needs to be perfect from here on as the Busch/Nesbitt foursome are not expected to wilt. Robertito Zedda scored five goals (2 fouls) for the Islanders who meet Palm Desert on Wednesday.
