Los Samanes II (Luis Eduardo, Toto Collardin, Juan Brane and Andres James) scored a 9-8 win over Eliet Polo (Elias Celis, Jose Rivas, Juan Harriot and Julia Diaz) Friday at noon at Venezuela’s Caracas Polo Club in Tucacas as the third round of play got underway in the 22-goal Gold Cup.  The win boosts the Los Samanes II record to 2-1, having downed Sebucan (Gonzalo Mendoza, Sebastian Harriot, Pablo Jauretche and Toto Urturi) and lost their only game of the tournament to Los Samanes (Carlos Silva, Facundo Castagnola, Agustin Canale and Marcelo Frayssinet) 2-1 in a shootout.  The loss was the third for Eliet Polo in as many outings and should eliminate them from the competition.

Mindanao (Jaime Restrepo, Tomas Franco, Santiago Cernadas and Jose Villamil) beat Los Samanes (Federico Rosales, Facundo Castagnola, Agustin Canale and Marcelo Frayssinet) in the 2PM contest to register their first win of the tournament.  Mindanao had lost earlier games to Caracas Polo (Victor Vargas, Alfredo Vargas, Juan Martin Nero and Martin Espain) and Sebucan.

In the tournament’s 4PM contest, Caracas Polo scored their third consecutive win without a loss as they rode past Sebucan, 12-9.

Play resumes on Saturday with Sebucan (1-2) facing Eliet Polo (0-3) at noon.  Los Samanes II (2-1) and Mindanao (1-2) are scheduled to play at 2PM with Caracas Polo (3-0) battling Los Samanes (2-1) in the 4PM contest.
