The first day of the America’s Cup was an adventure and it was the full moon hiding it all.  In game one it was Lucchese, who have been close to a doormat until now, coming out like this is their hometown and they gave The Skene Champs all they could handle. In the end, just like a 1, 000  games over the last 30 years, it was Carlos Gracida  doing it in the final 120 seconds . . . winning the game.  It was the constant work of Gonzalo and Carlos A.  making the plays that made it happen.  It is a solid, consistent program by Brandon Philips who keeps the oil flowing.

In game 2 it was high-end Zacara meeting ERG, a Scott Woods project who had a simple plan rule 18.  Those who score the most win. Jeff Blake and Gonzalo De Tour were on a mission to get it done and Mr. Woods came up with a couple back-breaking plays when Zacara thought they were close. Both patrons Lyndon Lea and Scott Woods were a big part of the game today.

In the 2 PM it was Audi, who I had my doubts would win a game,  giving Grant’s Farm a hiding as they finished several digits above them . The final game of the day featured two VIP’s of Santa Barbara as Bob Jornayvz  proved no matter what he will play. As his team Valiente with all their problems with injuries just kept ticking and they rolled over Masnsour with ease.  They head to round 2 where  there will be 4 more games and lots of chances to see some very good polo.

At 10.a.m. its Grant’s Farm vs Mansour both are win-less in the first round so need a WIN  here to get going.

Also at 10 a.m.  It will be Audi, who are coming off their first big win over GF, and they have to deal with big Robert’s            revolving door where they might have a foursome for a while as a beefed-up line showed up yesterday with the young gun Magoo Laprida and a very solid Carlucho Arellano doing a master job.  Big Robert  making the holes ahead for his Valiente squad.

1 p.m.       Its ERG and Patagones both coming off big wins Friday so someone has to lose and it should be speedo time

3  p.m.       Zacara vs Luccese both had first round loses, but Zacara just got to town so they have acclimated and are  ready .

The weather should be  perfect and the polo will be fast and open .

See ya.
