Hanalei Bay stands atop the trophy stage (again!) in the 12 goal Rancho Valencia Cup tournament. Krista and Ron Bonaguidi held the cup high along with Jason Crowder (5), Meaghan Scanlon (0) substituting for injured Ron Bonaguidi, Mariano Fassetta (6), and Nick Morrison (1) winning 10 to 6 over TriTech’s Chris Maloney (1), Jesse Bray (2), Matias Obregon (4), and Gaston VonWernich (5).
The game opened with TriTech first on the scoreboard while Hanalei Bay went scoreless in the first chukker. Then came the tide. Fassetta starting converting the first of his six goals in the game. Crowder went tsunami flooding the board with three in the third chukker, and another in the fourth.
It was Hanalei Bay’s third in a row tournament win. The second half of the season has been all theirs winning the Rancho Valencia Cup, Fernando Gutierrez Memorial Cup, and USPA Rossmore Cup.
The earlier match of the day (4 – 6 goal) of the Rancho Valencia Cup tournament saw smiles from CasaBlanca as Ronai White (-1), Ashton Wolf (2), Carlos Galindo (4), and Reggie White as they won 7 to 6 over La Pasion’s Tracee Brunetti (-1), Alvaro Tadeo (3), Nour-Dean Anakar (0), and Joseph Stuart (4).
It was a close game all the way; tied up 2 all in the first chukker, then CasaBlanca leading ahead by a one point margin for the rest of the game.
