“Polo provides so many opportunities for families to spend quality time together, both watching and learning how to play, and the Hats On To Polo: Salute to Mother’s Day event demonstrates just that,” said Pam Mudra, executive director at Houston Polo Club. “This is one of our favorite events of the year because we are able to showcase this great sport for our community, which has expressed tremendous enthusiasm for polo, as well as celebrate mothers on their special day.”
Located in the heart of the city, Houston Polo Club offers a variety of steps for new players to learn the sport of polo and get involved including individual lessons, a beginner polo school and a variety of leagues designed to embrace players from all ages, genders and skill levels. All you need to get started are boots and a helmet, and no riding experience is necessary. The club also hosts professional polo matches every Sunday during the spring and fall, showcasing the exciting and competitive atmosphere surrounding world-class polo.
“Houston Polo Club hosts some of the nation’s best programs and facilities, which are offered to players in every stage of development and at any interest level,” said Peter Rizzo, CEO of the U.S. Polo Association. “Their efforts to introduce new players to the sport through lessons and events have been instrumental in the expansion of U.S. polo, which is a key component in our mission to continue supporting its growth and development.”
Houston Polo Club is one of five Regional Polo Centers (RPCs) accredited by the U.S. Polo Association (USPA), polo’s national governing body, thanks to its enduring commitment to program development and the various learning opportunities it offers players. The USPA established the RPC program as a network of the most prominent polo centers around the country that train polo players, umpires, managers and others. They also support other clubs nearby and provide resources in an effort to enhance USPA membership.
