The Houston Polo Club sustained major damage to the barns and other structures on Friday-Saturday during Ike. It is estimated that the winds were constant 100-115 mph for over 5 hours.
All polo horses were evacuated well in advance of the storm. No one associated with the club suffered any injuries. All of the polo ranches: Isla Carroll,ERG,Lockton. Shaghai-Pierce, Tonkawa, Pegasus and all of the private ranches were spared much damage. Polo should resume soon, but matches at the club might be canceled up to a month.
The downtown area was also hard hit, which is where most of the members work.
