The Polo Report
By Steve Crowder

… and they come from the Desert of Indio, CA 92201.  These young players are competing in the National interscholastic Championship polo tournaments at Cornell University at the John T. Oxley Center. Tonight, they just found their own way to the finals of it all. Competing for National Championships is quite a big feat.   One of only two west coast teams made it to the National Championships so it was big when they won against a high-powered team from the University of Virgina Program, that has some big time talent.  Virginia’s power was  in the Burdick twins Austin and Tyler with help from Todd Thurston. Eldorado’s Team from Indio, CA  came fired-up knowing the challenge was there. They held the lead most of the night, but deadly penalty shots by Tyler kept them in the game for 2 chukkers and then they came alive in the third. They even reached the lead briefly, but the only female on the field, handled the short ones for Indio and she was even better.  She never missed and they only missed 1 of the short penalties 2’s and 3’s.  It was a very clean game and the horses played well. The Indio team consisted of Brianna Galindo,  Patrick Uretz and their big stick Jesse Bray.  It was a win and they are headed to the finals this Saturday vs. either Cowtown, NJ or Culver and it will not be a walk in the park. So good luck to these warriors and with some good play and a little luck they will bring the trophy home the Desert of California.

See ya,

Crowder.
