Jackson Hole Horse Emporium Open Report

On December 26 – 27, 2009, the last Californian tournament of the decade, the 4-goal Jackson Hole Horse Emporium Open was held at The Eldorado Polo Club, in Indio, California. The tournament is sponsored by the owner of JHHE, George Gillstrap.

The tournament hosted 4 teams; Leed Properties, Kentfield, World/Empire, and SMG.

Leed Properties was John Waybill (-1), Nick Morrison (1), Manuel Questel (2), and Ashton Wolf (2)

Kentfield was Gloria D’angelo (-1), Eric Hammons (0), Luis Echezarreta (3), and Rodrigo Moran (2).

SMG was Steven Sadler (-1), Shane Younger (0), Domingo Questel (2), and Kyle Fargey (3).

World/Empire was Wiley Uretz (1), Tony Uretz (0), Lolo Payan (2), and John Ziegler (0).

Saturday the 26th held the semis between Leed Properties vs World/Empire, and SMG vs Kentfield.

Leed Properties leaped over World/Empire, 9 to 5. Leed Properties’ Ashton Wolf finished with 2 goals, while Manuel Questel lead the team with 7 goals. On World/Empire, Wiley Uretz scored 1 goal, Tony Uretz had 1 goal, and Lolo Payan with 2 goals.

The other semi match was SMG vs Kentfield. Kentfield over SMG, 9 to 4. For Kentfield, Eric Hammons had 2 goals, Rodrigo Moran with 4 goals, and Luis Echezarreta with 3 goals. For SMG Kyle Fargey had 1 goal, and Domingo Questel had 3 goals. Domingo took a hard fall in the 2nd chukker, but finished the match fine.

On Sunday the final match was John “Fee” Waybill’s Leed Properties vs Eric Hammons’ Kentfield. The match lived up to everyone’s expectations.

The first chukker saw Leed Properties up 2-0 with Questel’s 2 goals.

At the 2nd chukker it was 3-1, with 1 goal by Morrison, and 1 goal by Moran.

By the 3rd chukker it was 5-1 Leed Properties. Wolf scoring 1 goal and Questel with 1.

In the 4th and final chukker, Leed Properties continued their charge to victory. Wolf had a pair of goals to add, and 1 more for Questel. Moran had 3 more to finish the match.

At the end of the day, Leed Properties ran away with an 8 to 4 victory over Kentfield.
