Adrenaline and fair play, skydiving, a relaxed beach atmosphere and international friendship – the perfect combination for a fantastic Whit weekend

This weekend the German polo scene will meet on Sylt for action packed beach polo – for eight years now this Pentecost tradition is at home at the eastern beach of Hörnum. International polo players and tens of thousands of spectators, celebrities and Sylt lovers are looking forward to a superb sporting event and a unique island experience.

The action starts on Friday with the elegant Players Dinner presented by Grey Goose, by invitation only. Players, patrons, sponsors and celebrities have announced their attendance at the beginning of the Pentecost chukkas. (Footage will be available on Saturday.)

On Saturday and Sunday the entrance to the public area will be free of charge. The visitors will be awaited by exclusive exhibitors and an exciting program.

The skydivers of seventhsky will be opening both days of the tournament with a landing on the polo arena. Following the free fall they will be welcomed with a refreshment of GLACEAU vitamin water.

In 2015 the legendary car brand Maserati is exclusive team and car sponsor on Sylt and will fascinate all fans of HP with a car presentation. For many years the brand with the trident logo is committed to the sport of polo. The presentation of a Windy Coho 29 yacht by VMG Marina will bring maritime elegance to the port of Hörnum. Whoever is quick enough has the opportunity to register at the exhibition stand of VMG for a showing and a test drive of the yacht and to witness the polo matches while being on the water.

The Argentine label La Martina, probably the most famous of all polo brands in the world, will be exclusive outfitter at the Julius Baer Beach Polo World Cup Sylt. In addition to outfitting all players of the tournament, La Martina will also have a tent in the event area where the cult brand will present women’s, men’s and kids’ fashion. La Martina is at home all over the world: in its cosmopolitan and relaxed collections, the brand combines the lifestyle of the British establishment up to the lifestyle of the beaches of Miami.

The VIP area will see exhibitors such as the coffee specialist J.J.Darboven with a coffee bar as well as Anders Superbrands from Munich, which will be presenting distinguished watch models in an exclusive showroom.

This year the champagne brand Lanson, a sponsoring partner of the event for many years, will start as defending champion. In the previous year team Lanson had a lot of staying power and the fastest horses. This much is clear: in 2015 Lanson will once again go for the win. By tradition, Germany’s best polo player Thomas Winter will be playing for Lanson. Christian Grimme, an experienced beach polo player, who in the past years has won the chukkas on the beach of Sylt several times, will be playing at his side. For years, Thomas Winter has been teaching the most successful up-and-coming players of the country in his Win PoloSchule, located in the east of Hamburg. It is his cadre factory, which produces the best young polo talents in the Federal Republic of Germany.

The young Caspar Crasemann also is one of the successful pupils of Thomas Winter. This year Caspar will participate in the beach tournament on Sylt for the first time and straight away will be playing for the title sponsor Julius Baer. Next to Hamburg, Crasemann’s polo basis is the Barralina polo farm of his father in Mallorca. His young career is impressive: In 2011 and 2013 he became German Champion in high goal polo, the highest league in the sport of polo, together with his brother Caesar. At his side will be playing Christopher “Niffy” Winter, one of the most experienced players in Germany. Raised in South Africa, Niffy has won the German Medium Goal Championship several times, has participated in a number of European Championships and in 2002 he became world champion in Elephant polo.

During the past years the Julius Baer Beach Polo World Cup Sylt at the eastern coast of Hörnum has become one of the most popular events and a real crowd puller, attracting more than 10,000 spectators. In 2011 Julius Baer assumed the title sponsorship for the first time – and this year the Julius Baer Europe AG with its chairman of the executive board Heiko Schlag is once again in on it.
