OAK BROOK POLO HOSTS TOURNAMENT FINALS
Oak Brook, IL…On Sunday, July 23, the finals of the USPA Cecil Smith Cup will be played at 1 p.m. at the Oak Brook Polo Grounds. Teams from the Chicago International Polo Club have been competing in preliminary matches for three weeks to make it to the final round. The tournament is sanctioned by the United States Polo Association.
At 3 p.m., Catamount (from Grand Rapids, MI) will compete against Pinecroft in the 16-goal Arranmore Cup. This tournament is the highest goal polo currently being played in the country.
Both teams feature internationally ranked professional players competing alongside local players.
The 2006 Oak Brook Polo season will continue at 1 and 3 p.m. every Sunday through September 10. Gates open at 12:30 p.m. Tickets, available at the gate, are $10 adults; $5 senior citizens; children age 12 and parking are free.
Dress is casual and spectators are always welcome. Pack a picnic lunch or purchase lunch from the field-side grill, bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy an afternoon of the “sport of kings.”
Entrance to the Oak Brook Polo Grounds is at 31st Street and Polo Drive, one-half mile west of York Road in Oak Brook.
