WOW and More WOW
The weather….. perfect, the fields today…… what is more than perfect? ….perhaps sublime. All players agreed that the fields today were fantastic. What a great kick-off to a great tournament.
11am Polo Do 12 Buena Vista 10
Chukkers 1 2 3 4 5 6 Total
Polo Do 2 3 1 1 3 2 12
Buena Vista 1 2 1 0 2 4 10
The edge for Matias Bullrich’s Polo Do was in the first half as they found the goal twice more than Don Langlois’s Buena Vista. As you can see, a let down in chukker 4 for BV, but these two great teams played each other even in the second half 6-6. The two big guns on the field were both performing well as Michel Dorignac for Polo Do and Gaston Lisioli for Buena Vista were tied for high scoring honors at 6 apiece. All eight players found the uprights in today’s match. One of the deciding factors was the steady support that Dorignac received fro Raul “Gringo” Columbres along with his 3 goals.
1pm Shekomeko Creek 10 Smithfield/Supersize 9 in sudden death !!
Great…I mean great..did I say great…polo game. The only unfortunate aspect to this match was that one team had to lose. Thank you both for the opportunity to watch.
Chukker 1 2 3 4 5 6 Total overtime
Smithfield 0 2 2 2 0 3 9
Shekomeko 4 1 0 2 2 0 9 1
Guillermo Aguero and Enrique Zavaleta wasted no time in paying their respects to the late great Eddie Moore by scoring twice each in the first to take a 4-0 lead. Smithfields Maxi Menini and Julio Ezcurra waited until chukkers 2 and 3 to pay their respect to Eddie as they outscored Shekomeko in those two chukkers, 4-1. So the half-time nod to Shekomeko by a goal, which may have been a bit of foreshadowing for the outcome.
Enrique and Guilli ganged up on Smithfield/Supersize again in the 5th but Smithfields Mr. go to guy, Julio, teamed up with Maxi for a three goal effort in the 6th to send the game to sudden death. The teams both had opportunities in the 7th with great runs up and down the field to the sheer pleasure of all on the sidelines. However, it was Enrique Zavaleta with the game winner for Shekomeko Creek. Game high score honors were shared by Smithfield’s Julio Ezcurra and Shekomeko’s Guilli Aguero. Enrique supported Guilli’s effort with 4 of his own. Menini contributed two and a whole lot of hustle for Smithfield. John Klopp and Bruce Colley also had a tally for SS.
Like I said in the first place…WOW

Heathcote Farm vs Longfield Farm
Oakleigh Thorne gets his first look at a tournament his Father played in so many times before. Oakleigh has the Zubiaurre brothers along with his father’s long time pro, Zulu. They go up against Duke Buchan’s Longfield. Duke has Juan Olivera, Carlucho Arellano, and Stevie Orthwein from St Louis. Longfield had Zavaleta on the roster, but Enrique went on the injured reserve list and made arrangements to go back to Argentina. So Longfield was able to secure Steve Orthwein. Then just a few hours before Enrique was going to mount a plane back to BA. he mounted a few of his ponies and said he thought he might be ok. Well now……. a couple of telephone calls later, the birth of Shekomeko Creek. so player trading and repositioning is not only in the NBA, its right here in mashomack…just to make an already very competitive tournament, a bit more competitive. But back to Heathcote and Longfield as they are in the first match of Bracket I.

Shekomeko Creek vs Polo Do
Both are coming off a win in their first go. Polo Do has wonderful direction and plenty of balance. Shelomeko appears to have a stronger middle, but is a bit under experienced overall…or are they? We will see thursday. One of these two teams will remain undefeated after Thursday, one gets a tally in the loss column. Come join us to see who gets what.
