A Charity Polo Match to Benefit Henry Ford Medical Center – Fairlane

DEARBORN – A charity polo match to fund expansion and improvement projects at the Henry Ford Medical Center – Fairlane takes place at 1 p.m. Sunday,
July 30.

On the grounds surrounding Regent Court at the Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, one can experience an exhilarating day of horse sport during southeast Michigan’s only charity polo match.

This polo spectacle, with a team from Sarasota, FL versus The Detroit Polo Club, will include swinging mallets, players and their charging mounts. Join picnicking families perched on checkered blankets and bleachers amongst the colorful tents cheering the two teams to victory.

Gates open at 1 p.m. and the polo match begins at 2:30 p.m.

“This is the only charity polo event in Michigan this year and Roy Link of Link Engineering (Plymouth) is sponsoring the Sarasota team,” said Jerry Hutcheson, of Birmingham and a member of the Detroit Polo Club, one of the sponsors for the event. “And it’s for a great cause, the expansion and improvement of the Henry Ford’s Fairlane medical center in Dearborn. Mayor Guido will throw in the opening ball and lots of local celebrities will be on hand, we will also have some great auction items and a Lady’s Hat Contest that everyone seems to enjoy.”

Proceeds benefit new operating rooms and endoscopy suites, at Henry Ford Medical Center – Fairlane, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The medical is one of the busiest in the nation, handling more than 350,000 patient visits annually.

Tickets for “The Mane Event” will be available for purchase in advance of the event and at the door for the general admission price: $15 each ($5 each for children 12 and under) or family pack of 4/$30 (two adults/two children additional children $5).

There are a variety of other special packages available including a $75 per person VIP champagne brunch beginning at noon, which will include a scrumptious brunch, festive drink stations, entertainment, auctions, special seating to view the polo match, and early entrance to kick-off the festivities.

In addition, there’s a $150 Champion Ticket, which includes VIP champagne brunch plus a reception at the Ford Rouge Factory Tour on Saturday night and the $300 Elite Ticket, which includes all the above as well as special recognition in the program book. Bonnie Jobe of Bloomfield is on the Event Committee and Mark Pilukas, a DPC member, of Birmingham is coordinating the Auction along with Chairperson Katy O’Neill of Bloomfield Hills.
