A 4 pm game had to be postponed until 5:45 due to a rain shower at about mid-afternoon. The storm that skated by us to the North would have surely cancelled all play today had it hit us head on. Ten Mile was just far enough south to escape the brunt of the storm. What looked like a certain cancellation at 2:30 pm found us enjoying a beautiful evening watching an exciting match. We figured Polo Do and Shekomeko Creek would provide wonderful entertainment and that they did.

Bracket II Polo Do (12) Shekomeko Creek (11)

Chukkers 1 2 3 4 5 6 Total

Polo Do 1 3 2 2 2 2 12

Shekomeko 2 1 2 2 1 3 11

Couldn’t be much closer. Polo Do trailed after the first, but then quickly regained the lead in chukker two and managed to hold off a tireless attack by Shekomeko’s Guilli Aguero and Enrique Zavaleta. Enrique scored six times for Shekomako while Guilli added 5.On the other side of the scoresheet, Michel Dorignac took top scoring honors with 7 tallies. All four of Polo Do’s squad found goal. Matias Bullrich had two and the second tally was the clincher of the match, with a beautiful power shot from just outside the 60 yd mark. Juan Martin Obregon scored one and Raul Columbres had two. Both Raul and Juan Martin have very quick mallets and were applying a great deal of pressure on Shekomeko throughout the match.

The game was great, but I have to say that the most amazing thing of this day is that we were able to have a polo game at all, and a good one at that.

Friday USPA Eddie Moore Play at Mashomack

3pm Heathcote Farm vs Ramirez Financial
This is the first showing for Sam Ramirez’s, Ranirez Financial. In addition to Sam’s 2 goal handicap, Sam will be running with Omar Sosa (5 goals), Luis Galvan (3 goals), and Andres Erbetti (2 goals). Omar won the 2005 Eddie Moore with Longfield and Luis won the 2006 Hector Barrantes with Polo Do in Saratoga, so both these players are at home in 12 goal action. Heathcote is in a must win situation to stay alive for a cross-bracket semi-final opportunity. So if you are a history buff on conflicts and the battlegrounds on which they are fought, this is one not to be missed.

5pm Buena Vista vs Smithfield-Supersize
This game is a must win for both of these teams, as they both lost their openers. So another guaranteed thriller to watch as Gaston Lisioli leads Don Langlois’s Buena Vista out to meet John Klopp and Bruce Colley’s Smithfield/Supersize Smithfield, which features Julio Ezcurra and Maxi Menini. Buena Vista’s other two recruits are Maxi Crotto and Alex Ingram.

The Mashomack 7th Chukker Bar will be field-side tomorrow, so bring your lawn chairs and some nibbles and come join us for a wonderful afternoon/evening of polo.
