Calgary, Alberta (July 26, 2007) – John Rooney got back on the winning track Thursday evening at the Calgary Polo Club by virtue of his Tusk Energy foursome’s decisive win over Dr. Avery Silverstein’s Armagddon group by a score of 13 – 7, in game one of the 16 – 20 goal North American Cup.
Trailing by one at the half (3 – 4) the Oilers scored ten times in the second and coasted to the victory. Rooney led the scoring with five open goal conversions. The newly aquired Jeff Hall had four (1 foul, #4), while Joe Henderson and Todd Martineau supplied two each.
The replies for Armageddon came from Tommy Biddle with two penalty four hits and three goals from Nacho Lezica and two for Cali Garcia-Velez substituting for Marcello Rodriquez-Abiatti.
Play continues in the three team tournament on Sunday with heavily favored Millarville facing Armageddon.
