Sam Ramirez’s, “Ramirez Financial” finds the win column by becoming the first championship team, of the first annual “Nuevo Escocia Cup”.

Sam reconfigured his team as Omar Sosa and Luis Galvan had other commitments. What would seem unfortunate on the surface would come to good fortune with a further search into the caverns of our barns. Carlos Avendano, who is stabled at mashomack, just happen to be available on this particular day to join forces with Sam, Andres, and Diego Fereira. Carlos is playing with Matias Bullrich in their high goal competitions.

So first up to the plate was the big bat of Avendano’s as Ramirez Financial quickly went to work against Buena Vista. Carlos scored five times in three chukkers, including a converted center field penalty. BV’s Long Ball Lisiolo answered Carlos’s center hit score with oner of his own, but that is all that BV could muster in the first three. Don Langlois was a tad off his game. Apparently, the Stissing House is not always the best place for pre-game meetings the night before competition. There seemed to be something different about Maxi Crotto’s play as well, and that played out to be a pulled groin that forced Maxi out of the game.

The losing team stays up against the third entry for the middle three chukkers, which was Smithfield/Supersize. That match-up resulted in a 5-5 deadlock between BV and SS. For Smithfield/Supersize, Menini, Ezcurra, and Colley all found the uprights, whereas Lisioli scored all five of BV’s tallies. John Klopp was also a bit off-stride. Apparently John attended the same training seminar as Langlois the previous evening.
The final three chukkers started out to be a repeat of the first three chukkers as Avendano scored twice in the first chukker between RF and SS. But SS’s Julio Ezcurra turned it up a notch in the next chukker and then continued their assault along with teammate Maxi Menini to stay in stride with Ramirez Financial and finished their three chukkers with a 3-3 tie. In a round-robin, ties count as a win, so both Ramirez Financial and Smithfield/Supersize had two wins and no losses. However, Ramirez Financial easily took the trophies by their net goal standings. Best Pony went to Carlos Avendano’s chestnut, MVP went to Julio Ezcurra, and the first Annual Nuevo Escocia Cup went to Sam Ramirez, Carlos Avenando, Andres Erbetti, and Diego Fereira. Smithfield/Supersize received the runner-up mugs.

Tomorrow’s 2007 USPA Eddie Moore Finals currently scheduled at 1pm.
There is weather forecasted, which is the reason for the earlier start time. if it turns out to be sunny and hot, the game may be postponed for the sake of the horses. In the event of forecasted rain, we also have the Ten Mile Field on stand-bye as that field is able to play well with a fair amount of rain.

Matias Bullrich’s Polo Do faces Duke Buchan’s Longfield Farm in the EM finals
Polo Do comes to the field with a more experienced quarterback in the mallet of Michel Dorignac, riding with a seven goal handicap. However, Longfield’s goals are more evenly spread amongst their foursome. Neither of these teams have lost a game in their bracket, or cross-bracket semi-finals. Only one of them will claim an undefeated run after tomorrow’s game. That team will be the 2007 Eddie Moore Champions. Polo Do’s Dorignac has two very talented young guns in the likes of Juan Martin Obregon and Raul “Gringo” Columbres. And PD’s Matias Bullrich has had several very impressive goals in this tournament, in only his second year of polo. Longfield Farm has the very able mallets of Carlos Arellano from Palm Beach and Steve Orthwein from St Louis. there is a ton of experience in those two family names in this sport of polo, as there is in the generations of the Dorignac name. Longfield’s Juan Olivera and Duke Buchan have been to this party before and they have the 2005 Eddie Moore Bronzes sitting in their trophy cases to prove it. Tomorrow’s outcome may be in question, however, what we can count on for certain, are six or more chukkers of great polo. See you field-side.
