WELLINGTON, FL – – The United States Polo Association (USPA) is proud to announce that the Triple Crown of Polo (TCP) will include the USPA National Intercollegiate Championships (NIC) played at the Kentucky Horse Park and the USPA sanctioned Robert Uihlein Memorial tournament hosted by Sarasota Polo Club in a special video production showcased within the Triple Crown of Polo Championship Series. The production is scheduled to air on ESPN 2, Saturday, June 23rd at 1:00 p.m. EST.
Last year, TCP produced a critically acclaimed presentation of four USPA affiliated polo events that were aired internationally on ESPN. According to TCP President David McLane, “Our goal is to grow the sport of polo worldwide and expand the fan base of this exciting and fabulous sport. By featuring the USPA’s NIC Tournament we will have the opportunity to feature this unique collegiate sport for the first time on television and we will be watching some up and coming professional polo players.”
USPA Executive Director Peter Rizzo reports, “We are excited about the potential growth of this event and the exposure of the sport to a wider audience.”
The Triple Crown of Polo (TCP) is the first multi-market tournament series in the sport’s history and provides sponsors a unique opportunity to reach the loyal fans of world class polo competitions. ESPN has an exclusive agreement for coverage of the TCP across multiple ESPN outlets, including domestic and international television rights. TCP national sponsors for 2007 are Lexus and Tiffany and Co. LeRoy Neiman, the most popular living artist in the United States, is the Official Artist of the Triple Crown of Polo.
