Saturday 6-goal league results:

11am Ramirez Financial 4 vs Supersize 10
Bruce Colley’s Supersize jumped out in chukker number one with a 3-0 lead and never looked back. Ramirez Financial played Supersize tight in chukker two with a goal by Sam and Manuel, but then Colley, Marinez, Green, and Gomez got busy with their sticks and outscored RF 4-1 in the second half.

The most notable factor in this game was the first re-appearance by Eric Rosenfeld, founder of the original Millbrook Polo Club. It was great to see Eric back up on a horse. I olnly expected a couple of chukkers from Eric in his first go but he lasted the entire match. Great to see him out there.

1pm Heathcote Farm 7 vs Smithfield Farm 9
These two talented foursomes traded a goal apiece in chukker number one, but there is more to Tatin’s first goal then Tatin’s mallet. In my position of the trailing umpire, I watched Oakleigh sweep across the defensive end, cut a difficult shot up the sidelines, power two shots down deep into the left corner, drawing all of Smithfield in tight and then powered an open back shot out to the waiting mallet of Tatin. Now I saw Oakleigh practicing that very shot with his foot mallet last year, but now he is doing it on a horse at a full gallop. Well done!
This match was largely a duel between Heathcote;s Tatin (scored 6 goals) and Smithfield’s Julio, also scoring six goals, but the stick that broke Heatcote’s back were the 3 goals by John Klopp. Special mention to Oakleigh who scored in the sixth to bring his team within one goal, but then Julio sealed the victory with the final score.

2pm June 8 Goal finals Longfield Farm vs Smithfield Farm

I can only promise one thing. A team with field and farm in their name will win this one. Longfield will duke it out to the final tick on the klopp…or maybe the final klopp of the horse…you know…klopp, klopp, klopp….ok…those were really bad, weren’t they? Now I can guarantee than the game will be far better than my feeble attempts at a play on words. If you like a good battle, dont miss the one here at 2pm tomorrow.
