The USPA Governor’s Cup 8-goal kicks off today with two games at 5:30 pm. The weather is again polo perfect. The fields have been being watered all week so they should be…how you say…fantastic!!

Game #1
Don Langlois’s Buena Vista will face Sam Ramirez’s, Ramirez Financial

Now the notable thing about Buena Vista is that Don Langlois’s team will actually have Don Langlois playing on it for the first time this season. Don has been suffering with tennis elbow since mid-may. Isnt it odd that we injure it playing polo, but we blame it on the game of tennis? Nevertheless, Don has mallet back in hand along with a few dozen cortizone shots, a brace, a few rolls of tape, and a big bottle of motrin. Isnt polo fun ? The winner of this team faces Smithfield/Hawk Hill on Sunday. The loser goes into the Mashomack Cup Finals, also on Sunday. Don has son Alex, the youngest player in this tournament, under the watchful eye of BV’s team captain, Gaston “Long ball” Lisioli. Sam is joined by Fuad Malik, Andres and another cannon by the name of Nicholas Milan. If you want to hit a longer ball, you can study the swings of both Lisioli and Milan, as they can and do launch a few.

Game #2
Abe Stein returns with Two Left Boots who faces off against Heathcote Farm

Abe Stein who won the 4 goal USPA championship two years ago returns with Mr Burnt Mills, Billy Patternetti. They have secured Diego Ferreira and Maxi Minnini as their two pros. Heathcote features two sets of two that have been practicing on playing as one set of one. Brothers Tatin and Ezequiel Zubiaurre along with Parker and Oakleigh Thorne. Tatin is one talented mallet as he has both the long game and the short game in his arsenal. Brother Ezequiel has already demonstrated on multiple occasions, that he is a real scoring threat. They face off against a fast riding hard hitting Minnini who is teamed up with Ferreira. Will the familiarity of the Zubiaurre brothers be a pay-off or a hinderance ? Parker Thorne flies back in from England today, so we will see if she can both fly and fly all in the same day. Come on out today, I can promise you two exciting games. The winners of this game will play Longfield Farm on Sunday. The loser goes into the Mashomack Cup on Sunday.

Saturday continues with 2- 6 goal games and club chukker

11am Heathcote Farm (2/2) vs Hawk Hill (5/0)
Hawk Hill could seal up first place with an undefeated record. I dont think Heathcote is looking to accommodate…and remember the team color thing

1pm
Smithfield (4/0) vs Supersize (3/1)
Smithfield is also trying to remain undefeated. the real question here is if there is even a Supersize team that will be out on the field? And if so, who?

Club Chukkers at 3pm…please sign up with me today if interested
