The Polo Report

Around the World it is football time (soccer) and it is the World Cup. Most of the Polo World is in second place to football or soccer as we call it in the US. The best World teams in football are also usually the best in polo despite Mike’s view. Argentina, England, Brazil and Spain some of the biggest venues in Polo are also powers in football. As a rule, the U.S. and Australia are not and it is the same this year as the U.S. World Cup Soccer Team lost today to a very small country in West Africa called Ghana, which is about the size of Idaho.  The country is just as tough as the people that come from it.

Anyway tomorrow promises to be a big day in the U.S. and probably England as well. About 90 % of the polo grooms in America are Argentine or Mexican. And guess what? Mexico and Argentina play each other tomorrow morning … so will your horses get out before the game? Well maybe if your there!  It should be exciting and it will defintley set the mood for the day. Some polo people will be very happy and some very unhappy. I know nothing about soccer, but it is one of the most popular sports in the world. In countries like the U.S., China, Japan and Russia they seldom have more than a flirt with the powers of Brazil, Argentina , England, Germany and even Portugal when it comes to soccer.  And all of the soccer super powers are about 300 times smaller. WHY?

I guess Mike could not understand this, so I will try to explain. Most Polo players come from Polo families.  Take a polo poll and see how many people are not from Polo families that are currently in it now. Very few! It is not hard to figure it out. There are only about 2500 people from the U.S. playing polo with a USPA Membership, which I doubt you (Mike) ever got because it is too expensive and you are not treated fairly by the USPA. I do enjoy your ignorant comments, but I do wonder about your polo. Regardless the controversy it is good for the press, however , I have noticed very few people even comment anymor . Sorry. Just trying to help you out Mikeeee.

So much for the Soccer/ football, we may have dead grooms, but Polo will go on as two Teams will battle it out for the finals of the USPA Inter Circuit Cup in Santa Barbara.  And guess what? On Cecils Ribs there are 2 Mexican-registered players and 1 Argentine.  On Earth Polo there is the greatest Mexican player of all time, Memo Gracida,  and a young superstar Argentine. So what can they do? It will be 6 hours later if they do not go into overtime.

In The British Gold Cup they will also have the same … Argentina and add the English to the mix.  They may be lucky to have Polo tomorrow. Good luck in the World Cup Mex., Arg., and the UK
