On the 8th day the fog is here after a sunny seventh day in a row. June is here with its gloom. It was a gloomy day for the horse world yesterday as there is NO CROWN FOR MR. BROWN. We enter into the third decade without a Triple Crown winner and thats just the way it is as everyone tries and hopes it will happen. It just does not seem to be. Mr Brown had a big weight on his shoulders but it was still sad to see him fail to reach that golden moment last seen in 1978.
In the polo world it was over in the UK. The all English team, Apes Hill, lost to the Azzurra led by Marcos Heguy in a 1 goal game. It was the defending champs Loro Piana sending Ruki Bailieu and Grayshurst to the sidelines.
Action was rained out in New York, but a big start today all over Yankee Land. In Santa Barbara on Friday it was Windsor Capital and the Governor (Pat Nesbitt) destroying Chadmar. Piocho ripped the Long Beach/Antelope team on some very good fields. Fast paced action in the lovely setting of Piocho Ranch Polo. “This place is really cool” said several individuals.
Down in Party Land (San Diego Polo Club) it is just getting underway with Opening Day today. It was Lady Lisa Bosstick & Bolko Kissling blasting away on Ms. Kelly Maloney & Ohana. They all meet again today, so we will get the teams and lineups to you soon. So on a nice foggy day may you get to play polo wherever you are .
