It was all KIG (Bash Kazi, Hector Galindo, Sugar Erskine and Kris Kampsen) Sunday morning on the grounds of the Palm city Polo Club in Boca Raton as they raced out to a 4-1 halftime lead before riding on to a 7-5 win over Daniel & Henry (Joaquin Panelo, Stevie Orthwein, Carlucho Arellano and Julio Ezcurra).
Julio Ezcurra scored the first goal of the game for Daniel & Henry, but that would be the team’s last gal of the first half of play as Bash Kazi’s KIG team took control of the game.
After tying it up at 1-1 with a goal from the field from Sugar Erskine, the KIG defense shut out Daniel & Henry for the next two chukkers while adding to their own total.
A penalty goal from Kris Kampsen in the second chukker was followed by a goal from the field from Hector Galindo as KIG moved out to a two goal, 3-1 advantage over Daniel & Henry.
Kampsen scored the only goal of the third chukker to put KIG on top of a 4-1 halftime lead.
Carlucho Arellano finally broke through the KIG defense in the fourth period, but another penalty conversion from Kampsen kept KIG in the lead, 5-2.
Three penalty goals dominated the only offensive production of the fifth chukker. Kampsen converted two penalty shots for goals for KIG while Stevie Orthwein scored from the penalty line for Daniel & Henry. After five chukkers of play, KIG continued to lead, 7-3.
Orthwein single-handedly tried to get Daniel & Henry back into the game, scoring two goals in the fifth chukker to cut the KIG lead to two goals, 7-5, but that would be where it ended. The final horn sounded in the 7-5 KIG victory.
Kampsen led all scoring with five goals (four goals from the field). Teammates Hector Galindo and Sugar Erskine scored single goals in the win.
Orthwein registered three goals for Daniel & Henry. Arellano and Ezcurra added single goals in the loss.
