Ladies in racing and polo on a Saturday afternoon It was a big day for the women in the Horse World today. Rachael Alexander showed the big boys how big she is in the Preakness. The only Boy in her class was fast on her and he was the little one, but he has a heart as big as her. It was Mine That Bird once again proving to the handicappers they just have to respect him or they may go broke. He had a new jockey and a few boys blocking the rail. As expected they were not going to leave that open even if Bo Rail was on the Lady. The boys should have left the rail open and we might have seen a real battle at the wire as none of them with the exception of Mine That bird had a shot against this Lady . . . Rachel Alexander. Hopefully they all pulled up fine and its on to the Belmon,t but again no chance of a Triple Crown winner . At least the four-legged kind. Calvin just might get there as he rode Mine That Bird (winner of the Kentucky Derby) and Rachel Alexander (winner of the Preakness). Will he win again the Belmont? We shall see.
In the Polo World the teams are all lining up their strings in the U.K. The Lady’s Tournament starts in the form of the 2009 Queen’s Cup. Over on the West Coast it was a Rookie Lady and La Kirina some how sneaking into the finals of the Lisle Nixon Memorial Finals. I was moving a House so I have no idea what happened, but La Kirina blew by Long Beach Saturday and made it their first win. They had enough goals to get to the Sunday main show. I am sure if Daddy Danny was at the horse races or here in Santa Barbara. Paige Beard makes it a great day as she is playing on Brian Boyd’s team and they are in the finals in their first tournament in town. That’s Polo . . . you just never know as they lost their first two games and I thought it would be Long Beach and Piocho and I was WRONG again. Piocho and the Lawman with the Gunner from Piocho TJ Barrack lead the way to the finals with a 3 and 0 record. They met Karina in the first game it may not be the same today. So we will see !
See ya.
