Mack Jason Invitational Polo Tournament

On an overcast day in the San Francisco area “North Star Polo Team” won the “Mack Jason Invitational” tournament. The final match was held at Menlo Polo Club on Sunday 28th of June 2009. This was a tournament in honor to Mack Jason, who was the founder and pioneer of Menlo Polo Club.
In the first half of the match everything looked easy for Park Lane Polo Team. They out ran Tim Westin and his teammates on the North Star team. Bill Garlock and Nick Morrison scored twice while Erik Wright added one for Park Lane. Juan Martin Gutierrez answered with tallies while Felipe Pallares helped score another point. At the end of the first half the score was 5 to 3 in favor of Park Lane.
In the second half of the game, North Star put their heads together and came back strong. Jeff Graham added two for Park Lane. Pallares flew like and eagle and scored two goals while Gutierrez scored 2 penalty fours to tie the game. The game went into sudden death overtime.
In an exhilarating long overtime chukker, Juan Martin Gutierrez scored the winning goal. Gutierrez was honored as the MVP of the match.
