The “BOLT” Julian Mannix had a huge game by all accounts to lead his Alegria team to the finals stopping 2012 US Open champs and did it in overtime . Read all about it from field reports by Alex Webb . Julian played most of his Polo here in the Desert under the name of FISH CREEK and is youngest son of Fred Mannix who is a huge reason the Desert is still here . The boys moved on to better Polo and the name Alegria comes from there Argentine Ranch of that name the Bolts older Brother Fredrick normally plays under the name of Millarvile a small town near there ranch in Canada but will be particpating in the Florida tournaments under the name of ZORZAL I believe it is a vineyard from Argentina . Anyway back to the Bolt and his Alegria team they have some speed to say the least if you think JM is fast you see the man behind him he is Hillario Uloa and he is so fast reminds you of Hector Galindo 20 years ago he is also pretty young and a bullit anywhere he goes maybe the best # 2 in the world today and behind him is the oldest guy in the finals but then he was also the oldest guy in the Argentine Open and he is also the Champ of the Argentine Open so no worry . His name is Mariano Aggurie and he was raised back to 10 goals in Ar. after the Open and there backdoor has a lot of history in the Desert as his name is Facundo Obergon well known in the Pee Wee and Junior Program at Eldorado fro several years with Fred,Jason, Artie and that group they take on Lechuza of Caracas, Venezuela Captained by the Tycoon Victor Vargas who is here and then is not as he is a travelin man but when he hits the Polo field he travels on very fast horses and very straight to the goal he may be older than Mariano but I am not sure but he brings a lot of Power with him in the form of Pablo Pieres son of Paul Pieres who is brother of Gonzalo and Alfonso Pablo was actually born in America so has a dual citizenship but he is very likley to be the most underated player around the high goal this year behind him you have a big stick who seems to always be in the finals wherever you just do not hear much of him I guess because he is not flashy, fancy or noisy he just always gets the job done his name is Juan Martin Nero and he was in the finals of the US Open the last 2 years and the Argentine Open the last 4 or 5 years and yes he is also 10 goals and his back door is Francisco Elizada and I cannot tell you anything he is 7 goals and must be good or Victor and Juan M would not have him there so that is it for Sunday finals of CV Whitney Cup first of the TRIPLE CROWN 26 goal tournaments so it will be the North against the South The Julian Mannix of Calgary, Alberta Canada vs the Owls of Caracas, Venezuela and Victor Vargas it should be a dandy.
Out West it is down time at ED but things are still flying along at Empire where the sun continues to shine as we head into March Madness of POLO. The amazing thing about the Desert is everyone wants to be there but few want to really compete, there is always a money issue they do not want to spend it but they do not try to save and then when there is prize money few want to try to win it because it cost to win now that Fish Creek and Valiente moved South . That may change now with the return of the BADIDOS as In Los Bandidos and a man who has to win Dave Dollinger I think he just does not have time for anything else. Welcome back Dave .
The big MONEY starts in 10 days and the 8 Goal worth 80 thousand possible still only has 6 teams are some of you afraid ????
