Crab Orchard Defeats Pony Express 10-8 to Capture Iglehart Cup
Friday at International Polo Club Palm Beach
WELLINGTON, FL (March 2, 2007) – Adolfo Cambiaso and Matias Magrini combined for nine goals to lead Crab Orchard over Pony Express 10-8 in the final of the 26-goal Iglehart Cup Friday at International Polo Club Palm Beach.
Cambiaso snapped an 8-8 tie with two goals in a span of 1:47 to lift Crab Orchard to victory. He made a 60-yard safety with 3:18 left in the game and added an insurance goal on a 60-yard penalty shot with 1:31 remaining.
Cambiaso finished with a game-high five goals, including four in the second half. Magrini finished with four goals and David Stirling Jr. added one goal. Patron George Rawlings did not score.
Carlos Gracida led Pony Express with four goals while Pancho Bensadon and Gonzalo Von Wernich scored one goal apiece. Patron Bob Daniels did not score. Pony Express received two goals on handicap at the start of the game.
There were six ties in the game.
Crab Orchard reached the final with an 11-8 victory over Las Monjitas. Pony Express advanced to the final with 12-11 overtime triumph over Orchard Hill.
High-goal polo continues Sunday at 3 p.m. when White Birch plays Catamount in
the 26-goal C.V. Whitney Cup championship match on Stanford Field at International Polo Club.
The polo matches at International Polo Club are open to the public. General admission for the Sunday games at International Polo Club Palm Beach is $10 for adults. Children under 3 enter for free. Tickets may be purchased at the gate on the day of the game or in advance at the stadium box office.
